Other's Pictures

I know what you are thinking - "Yeah Right, nice photo manipulation".  Honest, I haven't done a thing.  This fish was caught, up one of the rivers feeding River's Inlet, by Duane (in the picture) and Jeff (with the big halibut below) working for the Rivers Inlet Hatchery Program.  They were catching fish to use later for eggs and milt when they landed this one.

The fish weighed between 90-95 pounds.  Twenty pound test line was used.  This fish would have beat the world record by weight but did not qualify because it was caught in a hatchery river.

A commercial fish boat once caught a 126 pound chinook at the mouth of Rivers Inlet.

Why not try for one like this at Salmon King Lodge.

This is a 135 pound halibut (didn't know you were eating something so ugly did you!).  They are a bottom dwelling fish that lie there waiting to slurp up whatever swims by.

You really want to make sure that halibut are dead before you pull them into your boat.  They have been known to thrash around and destroy both the interior of boasts as well as the fishermen in them.  I've seen fishing shows where they have been dispatched boat side by a thrust of a spear followed quickly by a shotgun blast.
